Indian Army Attack on the Golden Temple (June 1984)

Under the calculated move of the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, Indian troops storm Sri Harimandir Sahib with tanks. Thousands of Sikhs were massacred. Sri Akal Takht suffered the worst. Wherever they were, Sikhs rose up in a united protest. Many returned their honours and decorations; others kicked govt. jobs, Sikh soldiers left their barracks and rushed towards the Darbar Sahib. Thousands of others courted arrest. The Sikhs, however, soon had their vengeance.
